Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about Groovy Homes’ permanent lighting services, installation process, and lighting solutions in Bloomington, Minnesota.
What is the difference between permanent lighting and landscape lighting?
Permanent lighting mounts to the house itself, usually in track along the roofline, soffits, and fascia, while landscape lighting sits in the yard to light trees, beds, and paths. Many homeowners start with the roofline because it frames the whole elevation.
How much of my house should have lights installed?
Most homes start with the front elevation, since that is what the street sees. Adding side wraps of a few feet around each corner makes the install look finished from an angle, and back rooflines can follow later if you want them.
Are DIY strip lights as good as a professional permanent install?
Rarely. Adhesive strips tend to sag under gutters, glitch in cold snaps, and fade within a few seasons. Groovy Homes regularly replaces failed DIY kits and handyman installs around Bloomington, MN with commercial-grade track that keeps its wiring hidden.
Do outdoor LED lights use a lot of electricity?
No. LEDs draw a small fraction of the power older incandescent strings needed, so running a roofline for a few hours each night adds very little to a monthly bill. Schedules and dimming settings trim that use even further.
